The event, held yesterday (Wednesday), attracted some of the strongest swimmers from across the district, including six from Terang (five secondary and one primary student).

After winning his events at house and district level, year 12 student Edward Delaney competed at his final GWR swimming carnival in the 18-20 year old boys’ 50 metre butterfly and 50 metre backstroke events.

Edward had previously competed at regional swimming meets on a number of occasions.

The Sharp sisters, Summer and Jackenzie, have been training with the Terang Amateur Swimming Club over the summer and were both looking forward to competing yesterday.

Summer competed in the 12/13 year primary girls MC 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m breastroke.

Jackenzie competed in the 15-16 year girls’ MC 50m freestyle, backstroke and the 16 year-old girls’ relay.

For year 10 students Elizabeth Flavell, Millie Castersen and Tahnee Sachs, this week’s regional finals was their first time competing at that level.

They joined Jackenzie Sharp in the 16 year-old girls’ freestyle relay.
