WOORNDOO Mortlake’s senior footballers now sit third on the Mininera League ladder after last weekend’s 63-point win over Hawkesdale Macarthur.

The Tigers put on a strong performance in front of their home crowd on Saturday and showed some strong passages of play despite the wet and wintry conditions.

Final scores were 14.18.102 to the Eagles 5.9.39.

Will Paulin, Matthew Pemberton, Jesse Horan, Haydn Templeton, Damien Pemberton and James Coghlan West were named among the best for the home side.

Matthew Pemberton booted four home for the Tigers and was joined on the board by team-mates Jesse Horan and Jack Spokes with three each.

Goals also went to James Coghlan West, Damien Pemberton, Will Templeton and Mitch Walsh.

The reserves also enjoyed a big win on Saturday, defeating the Eagles by 160 points.

The undefeated Tigers now sit on top of the Mininera League ladder, percentage ahead of Lismore Derrinallum who also remain undefeated to date.

Final scores last weekend were Woorndoo Mortlake 25.22.172 to Hawkesdale Macarthur 2.0.12.

Tyler Schafer went on a kicking spree in front of goal, booting seven for the match, while Jacob Fowler finished the day with six.

Bryce Meekes and Brody Mifsud both contributed two goals, while Tyne Anderson, Tom Carmichael, Lachlan Jubb, Teba Lott, Hans Petersson-Dunn and Tyler Seabrook also contributed to the board.

Best for the Tigers were Schafer, Carmichael, Fowler, Anderson, Mifsud and Ethan Mayhew.

The netball courts also brought success for the Tigers.

Results were as follows:

A grade – Hawkesdale Macarthur defeated Woorndoo Mortlake 35-31. Best for the Tigers: Sarah Cameron.

B grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Hawkesdale Macarthur 38-16. Best on court: Sarah Spokes and Sarah Muir.

C grade –Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Hawkesdale Macarthur 22-16. Best for the Tigers: Melanie Dyson and Abbey Burford.

18 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Hawkesdale Macarthur 35-12. Best for the Tigers: Elise Killen.

13 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Hawkesdale Macarthur 18-7. Indi Wardlaw was named best for the Tigers.

The Tigers will host Glenthompson Dunkeld this weekend in what will be a class of second versus third.

The undefeated Rams sit just percentage below top-placed Tatyoon and will be eager to take the points from the home team.
