Community Bank to mark $1M in donations
A MOMENTOUS milestone will be celebrated in Camperdown this weekend with the wider community helping to mark the occasion.

On Saturday Corangamite Shire residents are invited to help celebrate Cobden and Districts and Camperdown Community Bank giving out $1 million in donations.
Branch board chair Pat Robertson said the free community event is yet another way the bank can give back to the community which continues to support it.
She said the day, which will be held at the Guide Hall in Camperdown, is about celebrating the fact the community bank has been able to donate $1 million to community groups across the Corangamite Shire.
“We’ve donated over the years to about 150 150 organisations,” Mrs Robetson said.
“Our sponsorships have the whole shire. We’ve donated to groups from Simpson to Terang and in between.
“The amounts we’ve given vary hugely. Sometimes to a small organisation a couple hundred dollars can make a huge difference and then the other end of the scale where we’ve given $150,000 to Cobdenhealh.”
Mr Robertson said the Cobden and Districts and Camperdown Community Bank board members were all volunteers who all “give their time willingly to the furtherment of the community.
She said making donations to community groups was only possible thanks to the community continuing to support the bank.
“The only way we can do it, is with support from the community. We thank the community for its support,” Mrs Robertson said.
“The more they support us, the more we can give back.”
The Camperdown Guide Hall is a fitting location for the celebration day to be held, with the final donation needed to reach the $1 million mark being presented the Camperdown Guides. ‘
Community Bank board member Joan Scott said there will be two wildlife displays on the day as well as a chance for attendees to take photos with animals.
She said the two Wildlife Xposure Shows will be held at 11.30am and 1pm.
Mrs Scott said those attending will also be able to enjoy the nature bus, balloon animals, a coffee van with cold drinks and milkshakes, barbecue, rolled ice-cream, donuts and fruit cups.
“I think it will be a really good day for Camperdown; there’s been a lot of talk about it in the community,” she said.
“We want people to come along to celebrate and be a part of the day.
“It (the day) will be promoting the good work that the bank does.”
The community celebration day, to be held at the Camperdown Guide Hall at 251 Manifold Street Camperdown, will be held on Saturday between 11am and 2pm.
