THERE was a party in Cobden on Sunday not to be missed.
Hundreds of residents flocked to the Cobden Miniature Railway to celebrate Cobden and Districts and Camperdown Community Bank giving out $750,000 in donations.
Branch board chair Pat Robertson said the free community event was yet another way the bank could give back to the community which continues to support it.
“I’m overwhelmed with the amount of people, it was amazing,” she said.
“We think close to 600 people were there.
“I think it did just what we wanted to do and that was to celebrate the fact we’ve given $750,000 to the community.”
Mrs Robertson said feedback had been positive both from the groups involved in the day and from those attending.
She wanted to thank all those involved in the bank over its 15 years history.
“This wouldn’t have happened if there hadn’t been a group of people that had a vision for a community bank in Cobden,” Mrs Robertson said.
“From all of us as the current board, we would like to say thank you to the people who started the bank.”
Attendees at the celebration were spoilt for choice with a variety of activities, food and drink and entertainment on offer which was provided free of charge to the community.
