Community engages with Wannon Water
COBDEN residents had the opportunity to share their thoughts with Wannon Water last week as part of the organisation’s annual community roadshow.
Locals were invited to drop in for a coffee catch-up at the Cobden Bakery on Thursday, October 16, where they chatted with Wannon Water staff, asked questions and shared what mattered most to them.
Engagement and education coordinator Anna Sanderson said the informal session was a great way for people to connect with the team.
“It’s a chance to talk to us about all things Wannon Water – from prices, water quality and environmental initiatives to our services and priorities for how water is used in our homes and towns,” she said.
“We’re seeing a trend emerging over the past 12 months showing household, farming and environmental water use are top priorities for customers across the region, while home gardens are less of a priority.”
Cobden residents also thought there were opportunities to make better use of existing water resources, including harvesting roof and stormwater for town use, and encouraging people to recycle grey water from homes.
The Cobden event is part of a broader roadshow, with a session also planned at the Peterborough General Store and Takeaway today (Wednesday, October 22) from 10am-12noon.
“Understanding what’s important to our customers helps us deliver services that meet their needs now and into the future,” Ms Sanderson said.
For those unable to attend in person, feedback can still be shared online at engage.wannonwater.com.au.
Expressions of interest are also open for community members to join Wannon Water’s community advisory committee for those interested in being more involved in helping to guide Wannon Water’s approach.
