Constable bags 16 for Demons
SPEARHEAD Lachie Constable had a day out last Saturday, bagging 16 goals for Lismore/Derrinallum in its 189-point win over Moyston/Willaura.
The Demons remain unbeaten in 2026 after the 31.19.205 to 2.4.16 win in the round 12 senior football match at the Moyston Recreation Reserve.
“It all just probably reverts back to our ball movement, but Lachie was exceptional on the weekend,” Lismore/Derrinallum coach Alec Wiltshire said.
“When we put speed on the ball, he just gets one on one opportunities, and he’s pretty hard to beat at the best of times, but when he’s not going up against three or four, it plays right into his wheelhouse.”
Constable’s effort takes his season total to a league high 75 goals.
“He probably owes a couple of boys a few beers, especially in that last quarter; Austin Humphrey in particular could have kicked another three but passed it off.”
Apart from Constable, Henry Walsh, Blake Scott, Humphrey, Max McIntosh and Marshall Browne were in the best for the Demons in the big win.
Scott managed five goals with Humphrey kicking four.
“We were pretty even across the board on the weekend.
“We went in with some key focuses, we set goals for each quarter and we hit a lot of them, so we continue to improve and keep setting standards for each other to keep getting better.”
In tomorrow’s match the Demons host eighth placed Wickliffe/Lake Bolac at the Lismore Recreation Reserve.
