Cool weather for golf
THE cooler weather was a bit of a dampener on Wednesday’s golf at Camperdown.
Despite the conditions, a keen group of players contested the stroke round for the women’s May monthly medal and putting competition.
Doreen Horan (26) claimed the medal with a nett 72 and also won the putting competition with 32 putts.
Deb Narik (23) was the runner-up with a nett 74.
A ball down the line went to Jenny Hillman.
Deb Narik was nearest the pin on the second hole and Doreen Horan had the closest second shot on the ninth green.
Camperdown’s division two women’s pennant team lost a tight tussle with Portland, 3-2, at Portland on Monday.
Donna Conheady was beaten 1up, Tracey Baker won 2-1, Gabby Gill won 4-2, Jenny Hillman lost 4-3 and Deb Narik was beaten two up.
Next Monday Camperdown will play East Framlingham at Cobden and must win to get into the final, to be played the following Monday at Warrnambool.
