Joan Mahony, Sue Hollingsworth, Lydia Green, Judy Armstrong and Jan Barnes will all display work at the Courthouse, with a variety of media from pen and ink sketches, acrylic paintings and poetry to woven and encaustic works.

Ms Barnes said a last-minute cancellation proved to be a twist of fate for the group.

“It was planned for earlier in the year, but it was delayed because someone else missed out on an exhibition spot,” she said.

“It’s a mixture of new work and works people may have seen before at the Old Bookaar School – the group is five of the six artists who have regularly been exhibiting at the school in July for the past three years.

“People who have missed the Bookaar exhibitions may get to see some of the items on display there, or they may come and enjoy it for the first time.

“The artworks mainly feature the local area – we are inspired by the area we all live in and love.

“It might be landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, old buildings, flora, animals and more – it’s generally what we see out our window.”

Ms Barnes said the Corangamite Creatives hoped people came away from the exhibition with an admiration of Corangamite Shire.

“Some people transfer what they see into artwork,” she said.

“We hope people begin to notice things they may not have noticed before and take the time to look around them.”
