CORANGAMITE Lions Football Club kicked off a busy season ahead over the weekend.

Club president Jamie Norton said the season got under way on Sunday, with the seniors securing a win against reigning premiers Portland.

“It was pretty good to get the win,” he said.

“The under 14s drew their game against Portland two-all.

“The women lost to Port Fairy zero to two and the under 17s lost nine to one.”

Norton said the club was looking forward to the season ahead.

“The men’s, reserves and women’s teams have been training since January,” he said.

“There is a good vibe around the club at the moment.”

Norton encouraged residents interested in getting involved to get in contact.

“We’re always looking for new players, particularly women and juniors,” he said.

“Training is Wednesday nights with juniors starting at 4.30pm and seniors at 6.30pm.”

The Corangamite Lions Football Club trains and plays home games at the Scotts Creek Reserve.

Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Jamie Norton on 0408 272 475.
