Cottage gutted

A SMALL cottage has been burnt down following a fire on Monday which saw the Country Fire Authority (CFA) bring the incident under control quickly.


CFA Commander Troy Mitchell said the incident on Kurweeton Road in Derrinallum occurred around 8.15pm on Monday, October 20.

“It was a two-bedroom cottage adjacent to the main house,” he said.

“Fire gutted the cottage.

“A cause has not been determined, but it is deemed not suspicious.

“Three firefighters wore breathing apparatus, but they’re all fine.

“There was no asbestos.”

While the cause is deemed not suspicious, investigations are underway to find the cause of the fire.
