Council begins works program
THE first jobs are being ticked off Corangamite Shire Council’s 2025-2026 road construction list.
Manager works Lyall Bond said the 2025-2026 capital works program includes 19 road rehabilitations and upgrades totalling 12.09km worth $3.3 million.
“We’re ramping up and hoping for good weather,” he said.
“This much-needed rain is great for farmers but not necessarily for road construction.
“We’ve managed to seal one road already Monday, November 24 - Gnarpurt Road at the intersection with Lower Darlington Road.
“We’re well on track with Darlington-Terang Road and expect that to be completed next week.
“The next batch of works will be after Christmas.”
In addition to Gnarpurt Road, works are also planned for Koallah Road, Linton Road, Vite Vite Road, Wiridgil Road, Crawfords Road, Danedite Road and widening Naroghid Road at Batemans Road.
Mr Bond said there were also a range of culverts and pipe upgrades going on, so warned motorists there would be some road closures happening.
“Please be mindful of that as you’re travelling around the shire,” he said.
“Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates so you can plan accordingly.
“Please observe signs and traffic management and drive to the conditions.
“We thank the community for their patience as we carry out the program to keep on top of our assets.”
