Country Week teams announced
SOUTH West Cricket has announced its junior Country Week teams for 2024.
The under 17 side, to be coached by Matthew Love, will compete in Warrnambool from Monday, January 8 until Friday, January 12.
Heytesbury Princetown’s Ryan Mottram will captain the side, with Bookaar’s Wilba Cheeseman and Cobden’s Jonty Roberson elected vice-captains.
Other team members are:
Henry Carroll (Ecklin); Parker Walsh, Campbell Walsh, Eddie Walsh, Cooper Beard and Bradey Fratantaro (Cobden); Finn Tolland and Gavin Reynolds (Pomborneit); Cooper Herry (Bookaar) and Tom Illingworth (Heytesbury Princetown).
South West Cricket’s under 15 side will be coached by Luke Reynolds and will contest Country Week in Horsham during the same period.
The under 15s will be captained by Bookaar’s Sonny Podger, while Cobden’s Lenny Walsh has been named vice-captain.
Other team members include:
Albie Cheeseman, Paddy Hassett, Max Heffernan, Lenny Stephens, Xavier Fowler and Rory Cameron (Bookaar); Josh Reynolds, Fletcher Tolland, Levi Cootesmith, George Sadler and Jonty Raven (Pomborneit).
In the under 13 competition, South West will have three teams. These will play in Portland from January 15-17.
The teams are still looking for more parent helpers so please contact coaches if you can assist.
The Tyrenderra rooms have again been booked for accommodation and buses will leave Camperdown at 2pm on Sunday, January 14.
A practice session will be held at Cobden Tech oval on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 (please advise coach if unavailable).
Under 13 Gold will be coached by Chris Walsh (0418 529 997).
Team members are Clem Walsh, Jack Couch and Michael Benallack (Cobden), Sam Mahncke (Woorndoo), Sam Tolland and Bailey Fox (Pomborneit), Ben Vogels (Simpson), Sacha Blain and Jed Watson (Heytesbury Princetown), Gus Fryers, Issac Lawlor and Jimmy Cheeseman (Bookaar).
Under 13 Green will be coached by David Murphy (0407 523 513).
Team comprises: Miller Murphy, Joel Hinkley, Hugo Saarikallio, Alex Huggins, Oliver Rahles-Rahbula and Max Rahles-Rahbula (Pomborneit), Rhys Darcy (Cobden), Bailey Carman (Boorcan), Dallas Blain, Alby Jones, Byron Woods and Lockie Doolan (Heytesbury-Princetown).
