Courthouse Camperdown committee needed
CAMPERDOWN locals are being asked to consider putting their hand up to help form a new Courthouse Camperdown Committee of Management.
CAMPERDOWN locals are being asked to consider putting their hand up to help form a new Courthouse Camperdown Committee of Management.
Courthouse ambassador Jan Chapman said a special meeting will be held at the courthouse on Monday, February 15 at 7pm to elect a committee of management.
She said the courthouse, which had been closed to the public throughout last year due to COVID-19, re-opened in December.
“We haven’t got a committee of management at the moment, we’re working with a skeleton crew,” Mrs Chapman said.
“We need those people with the skill sets that a lot of us haven’t got to put their hands up for the committee.
“I don’t think it’s a burdensome task.”
She said the community had responded positively to the re-opening of the popular community space.
“We opened on December 19 and we’ve been absolutely blown away by, not only the visitors we’ve had through, but comments from the community walking past,” Mrs Chapman said.
“The number of visitors we’ve had through is unbelievable to us. We’ve had over 950 visitors since we re-opened.
“People have been very positive.”
Ambassador Wayne Gainger encouraged residents to volunteer their time.
He said he had only recently began volunteering and was enjoying the experience.
“It’s picking up great, a lot of people are stopping by,” Mr Gainger said.
