Courthouse needs your help
THE Courthouse Camperdown is calling for more volunteers to join the organisation.

THE Courthouse Camperdown is calling for more volunteers to join the organisation.
People from all areas of Corangamite are invited to put their hand up to volunteer.
Courthouse president Alison Byrne said the organisation has an incredible group of committed volunteers who keep the doors open 364 days a year from 10am to 3pm, but they need help and support.
“Although COVID presented us with many challenges, one of the biggest legacies of that period is the decrease in the number of volunteers,” she said.
“The Courthouse is open every day of the year except Christmas Day with two shifts per day, which are only 2 ½ hours each shift.
“Some Ambassadors do a whole day each week; others find that 1 shift per month fits better with their lifestyle.
“We have volunteers supporting us from all areas of Corangamite, with Ambassadors from Timboon, Terang, Kariah, Lismore and Derrinallum and the more we have from each corner of our shire the more information is shared about the hidden tourist treasures that can be enjoyed.”
Ms Byrne said being a volunteer has lots of benefits.
“It can bring meaning and purpose to your life, while increasing your self-esteem and wellbeing,” she said.
“Volunteering can also relieve stress, and alleviate symptoms of depression.
“As well as having a positive impact on your community, volunteering can improve your relationships and build friendships.”
Courthouse treasurer Carolyn Harris also encourages those interested in volunteering to consider the Courthouse.
“We have a great community spirit in Corangamite as seen at the recent Australia Day awards, people giving back, creating connections, caring for the community and the people that live here,” she said.
“Whatever your age, come along and join in the fun, comradery and giving back to your community, it’s where we live, work and play.”
