TALENTED all-rounder Samantha Coxon has been reappointed captain of Pomborneit’s top women’s team for a third season.
The Pomborneit Cricket Club was thrilled to announced Cox would again lead the club’s top women’s side, Pomborneit Gold, for the 2023/24 season in the Colac District Cricket Association women's competition.
Coxon, who won the first two CDCA women's Cricketer of the Year awards as well as winning the first two Pomborneit women's team champion awards, took over the captaincy from inaugural skipper Narelle Place for the 2021/22 season in the division one competition.
She remained captain for the 2022/23 season of the Pomborneit Gold team when the competition reverted back to a single grade, leading the team to runners-up both years in charge.
Pomborneit president Dave Murphy said the club was thrilled to have locked in Coxon for a third season as captain.
“Sam brings a high level of passion, enthusiasm and professionalism to the role, and leads by example as a strong performer with bat, ball and in the field,” Murphy said.
“Sam is a natural leader and someone we love having as such a big part of the club.”
In 30 matches for Pomborneit, Coxon has scored 594 runs at an average of 54.00, while taking 41 wickets at an average of 4.76, as well captaining the CDCA women's representative team.
