Crayfest returns to Port’ this weekend
CRAYFEST returns for its fourth year with live music, seafood, family activities and a few surprises across the March 22-24 weekend.

Crayfest committee president Lee McLeod said the committee had made an effort to balance activities across the weekend after feedback from last year’s event.
“The main day has traditionally been held on a Sunday to avoid any potential clashes with community sport,” she said.
“We’ve moved the street parade, live music and food stalls to Saturday this year.
“Having the music on the Saturday and family activities and Seas the Day on the Sunday will enable festival goers to stay Friday and Saturday nights and have Sunday to relax.
“Local restaurants are featuring seafood on their menus across the weekend and there will be busking in the town centre on Friday evening.
“You can head to the Crayfest Facebook page for details.”
The Arts Space is also running an exhibition - Flotsam and Jetsam - which opens 6pm on Friday.
Crayfest activities start on Saturday from 9.45am with a Welcome to Country on the foreshore followed by the street parade at 10.30am.
The street parade starts near the Surf Club in Tregea Street and heads clockwise around Morris, Lord and Cairns Streets. It will finish at the Public Purpose Reserve (tennis courts area) after one and a half laps of the town centre.
Ms McLeod said there is a $500 prize for the best float in the street parade.
“The street parade is always a lot of fun and a bit of a highlight for the youngsters,” she said.
“We’re all about gender equality at Crayfest, so we are very chuffed to have a Mr Crayfest featuring in our street parade this year.”
From 11am onwards, the focus shifts to the tennis courts area with food stalls and live music featuring Mr M Adventures (11.15am), The Tin Shed Singers (12noon), Bridget Dridan and Titania (12.30pm), Flynn Gurry (1pm), Matt Langoustine and the Kitchen Rhythm Section (2pm), Amplitude (2.30pm), Black Swan (3.30pm), Lee Sonnyboy Morgan and The Storm (4.30 pm) and The Alpha Tides (5.30pm).
Crayfish rolls, prawn platters, calamari, dumplings, oysters and ice cream will be on the menu, as well as local wine, gin, whisky and cocktails.
Other food options include a barbeque, potato twisttos, kebabs, hot dogs and pizza.
Ms McLeod said entry is free to Crayfest, however patrons are encouraged to bring their own or buy a reusable Crayfest cup for $15.
Sunday’s program will include a beach treasure hunt at 10am. Entry is free and there are three prizes up for grabs across two age categories (seven years and under, 8-12 years).
Free fishing clinics on the pier for ages eight and above start from 10am and run until 2.30pm. Registrations are essential at www.crayfest.com.au.
Sunday’s main event - Seas the Day - starts from 1pm in the Sunset Room at Port Campbell Surf Lifesaving Club.
Tickets $80 include a local produce platter for two, live music by Flynn Gurry and stunning views from the deck of the surf club. Drinks available at bar prices.
