Creek too strong
THE third-placed Russells Creek proved too strong for the Timboon Demons’ senior footballers last weekend.

In what was a tough day on the ground, the Demons went down 22.16.148 to 3.5.23.
Russells Creek kicked six goals in the first quarter and 10 in the third quarter with the wind, and dominated the scoring throughout the game.
Ash Hunt, Johno Benallack and Tommy Illingworth were best for Timboon in the loss.
The Demons remain four points out of the top five, and face another stern test this week with an away game against second-placed Allansford.
Russells Creek had an 8.5.53 to 3.6.24 win in the reserves football.
Lagan McKenzie, Lachlan Rosolin and Daniel Shanahan were the best for the Demons, with Drew Kordupel kicking two goals for Timboon.
Russells Creek had a 12.9.81 to 2.2.14 win in the under 18s.
Mitchell Plozza, Jhyce Bartlett and Lachy McLennan were best for the Demons.
Russells Creek was also too strong in the under 15 football, winning 18.7.115 to 4.2.26.
William Plozza, Byron Woods and Alby Jones were named as best for the under 15 Demons.
In the under 13s, Russells Creek prevailed 3.5.23 to 0.3.3.
Dane Nicholls, Zane Schawalder and Rory Hollick were best for the junior Demons.
The A grade netball match saw Timboon have a strong 47-35 win.
Trailing for the entire first half, the Demons outscored Russells Creek 26 to 12 in the second half to record an impressive win.
“We had a slow start but worked hard and fought back well,” a pleased Demons coach Danica Clough said.
“We could have dropped our heads but we stayed positive and I’m really proud of the team for their effort.”
Clough rated goal keeper Holly Kordupel as the Demons best.
“Holly was outstanding, defensively she is always good, Saturday was her best rebounding game by far,” she said.
Wing defence Delys Jones also drew praise from her coach.
“Delys was also fantastic in defence, she applied tremendous pressure outside the ring,” Clough said.
Nina Barlow was also in the best for the Demons.
“Nina was strong both offensively and defensively, a wonderful all round game,” Clough said.
Laura Rosolin led the scoring for the Demons with 30 goals, while Macy Gale shot 16.
The win keeps the Demons in touch with the top five, with third-placed Allansford next up.
“Allansford will be a great test, we will need to be ready to put in four solid quarters,” Clough said.
Russells Creek had a 38-34 win in the A reserve netball.
Macey Gale led the scoring for Timboon with 28 goals.
The B grade game saw Russells Creek have a 25-20 win.
Nicole Burvill scored 13 goals for Timboon.
Timboon had an exciting 28-26 win in the 17 and under game against a fast finishing Russells Creek.
Meg Duro and Evie Gordon scored 11 goals each for the Demons.
Twenty-eight goals to Ella Drayton led Timboon to a convincing 40-13 win in the 15 and under match.
In the 13 and under game, the Demons had their first loss of the season, going down 29-26 against second placed Russells Creek.
Emily Plozza scored 17 goals for the junior Demons, while Grace Richardson scored nine.
