Crowd gathers for the running of the Mortlake Cup
THE Mortlake Cup drew a strong crowd to town over the weekend for a blockbuster day of racing.

A crowd of around 2000 poured through the gates at Mortlake Racecourse last Saturday for a bumper day of racing.
Mortlake Racing Club president Bruce Redpath said all involved were thrilled with the success of the day.
“The Cup went very well – the whole day was wonderful,” he said.
“The weather was good except for the wind but it was a very good crowd with good attendance, which we believe to have been on par with last year.
“It was a positive day with good racing, excellent fields and the Mortlake Cup was won by Matty Williams and local people.
“We had a great day.”
Mr Redpath offered his thanks to those who had worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure smooth operations for the running of the cup.
“The track was outstanding and the facilities were excellent,” he said.
“It looked an absolute treat.
“Most of the locals supported the event, which was a positive.”
