The match between Timboon and Kolora-Noorat was the fifth Worksafe Country Club Game of 2025.

In muddy, wet conditions at the Timboon Recreation Reserve, the Demons put paid to the Power’s finals chances with a 3.8.26 to 2.5.17 win.

“It was a non-negotiable result, a win we just had to get for our finals chances,” Timboon coach Andrew Hargreaves said.

While the rain mostly held off for the senior game, conditions were tough after a big day of football.

“Our ball movement was really good in the first half,” Hargreaves said.

“But the ground was really chopped up by the second half where it became a real slog, a battle for territory.”

It was a point the difference at half-time in the Demons favour, with scoring becoming near impossible in the second half.

Will Moorehouse kicked the only goal from either team in the second half, with a final term major.

“That last quarter goal from Will Moorehouse was so important, it gave us the breathing space we needed,” Hargreaves said.

The coach praised his group of midfielders for their work in the win.

“Ash Hunt, Jack Osborne, Johno Benallack, Balun Cumming and Ben Newey were all really good, their strong bodies around the ball was very important.

“Jack McGlade at half back was fantastic as well, he chopped off everything.”

Hargreaves was pleased with the contribution of forward Thomas Hunt.

“Thomas made a great contribution kicking our two first quarter goals, he’s been playing great footy in the reserves, it was great to see him contribute so well.”

Another big win for the Demons came in the form of experienced defender Simon Harkness, who has returned after a stint living interstate.

“Simon hadn’t played for a couple of years, but he slipped straight back in, he hasn’t lost it.

“He still reads the game well and his skills are very good, he played a top game in the backline.”

Timboon (in fifth place and four points ahead of Old Collegians), have a big three weeks ahead for their finals hopes.

The Demons play Nirranda at Nirranda this week, before games against Merrivale and Old Collegians.

Timboon had a strong 10.3.63 to 3.4.22 win in the reserves football.

Richard Couch, Bailey Delaney and Lachlan Rosolin were the Demon’s best in the win.

Rosolin kicked four goals and Eben White three for Timboon.

Kolora-Noorat had a 3.4.22 to 2.2.14 win in the under 18 football.

Hugh Smith, Rory Roberts and Leroy Steere were best for Timboon, with Tayne Berry and Rileigh Williams kicking a goal each.

In the under 15 football, Timboon registered a 6.4.40 to 4.7.31 win.

William Plozza, Alby Jones and Byron Woods were best for the Demons, with Jones and Jontae Te Nana-Rodgers kicking two goals each.

In the under 13s, Timboon had a big 15.11.101 to 2.0.12 win.

Jed Watson, Dane Nicholls and Fletcher Hickey were best for the junior Demons, with Watson bagging 10 goals.

In the A grade netball, Timboon scored a crucial 52-44 victory.

The win puts the fifth placed Demons four points ahead of sixth placed Old Collegians and Kolora-Noorat in seventh.

“It was a very pleasing win and vital in the context of the season,” Timboon coach Danica Clough said.

After an even first quarter, the Demons got away from the Power in the second and third quarters.

“We consistently got better throughout the game except for a slight lapse in the last quarter,” Clough said.

Former Australian netball player and coach Lisa Alexander awarded Laura Rosolin, who scored 44 goals, the Worksafe player of the day medal.

“Laura has been in wonderful form, she was an unstoppable target,” Clough said.

Clough herself and centre Nina Barlow were also in the best for the Demons.

“Nina’s speed was incredible, she started plenty of attacking moves for us.”

Clough also praised the game of two of her key defenders.

“Beth Hallyburton and Holly Kordupel were brilliant in defence.

“They’re such a great combination and create several turnovers.”

This week Timboon takes on top of the ladder Nirranda.
