This year’s theme was ‘Celebration of Cultures’, which students explored through a variety of activities throughout the week.

Junior campus assistant principal Jacinta Tolland said students explored this year’s theme through explorations, conversations, showcases and celebrations.

“Students embraced the many opportunities on offer which saw them learn more about different cultures through dance, art, construction and history,” she said.

“Guided by the week’s theme, our students explored many cultures and undertook activities in classrooms and at lunchtime breaks to celebrate cultural diversity including Aboriginal, Chinese and Indonesian cultures.

“A highlight were the many creations made by students showcasing our local indigenous culture during a lunchtime activity. Through the use of our own pine tree needles and clay, students explored the word Marrung (Murray Cypress Pine Tree) and how it symbolises the branches of knowledge and learning in education.

“Their creative and inspiring designs showcased their cultural understanding in such a fitting and creative way.

“We celebrated strong and successful government education, we welcomed our beautiful families into our classrooms to enjoy our positive spaces, and we welcomed kindergarten students and their families into our school, signifying the beginning of a relationship we hope to continue for many years to come.”

Ms Tolland extended her gratitude to everyone who was involved with the Education Week activities.

“Thank you to all families, including grandparents and friends, who joined in the fun on Friday during our open morning, taking the opportunity to experience the joy of being in the classroom environment,” she said.

“Many also experienced our newly renovated spaces, gaining an insight into our vision for our junior campus buildings on what was a very special day.”
