Cup day success
STRONG winds did not deter racegoers from enjoying the sunshine and turning out in force for the 2026 Sungold Milk Camperdown Cup last Saturday.

Crowd numbers were up this year, with 2800 people through the gates for a day of fashion and horse-racing.
Camperdown Turf Club secretary Karen Van Kempen said the club was pleased with attendance.
“We’re very happy with the attendance, particularly given how the weather was – it was a terribly windy day,” she said.
“We’re really happy with the way the community got out and supported the event, and it’s really rewarding for all the hard work the staff and committee put in to then see people coming out and supporting the event.
“Fashions on the Field was very popular – there were 26 women and 12 men entered into that.
“All the kids activities proved popular once again, particularly Kelly Sports and the animal nursery.
“The live music is always well-supported as well.”
Ms Van Kempen praised the behaviour of racegoers and thanked them for their support.
“We want to thank them all for braving the wind and coming out to support their local community event,” she said.
“It means so much to the club that we’ve got the local support.
“It’s good to see we’ve got a really strong community event going on.”
