THE tea will be hot and the chatter non-stop when residents enjoy a cuppa for a cause this Thursday.
Thommo’s Hotel in Cobden will be the place to be tomorrow morning for some friendly chatter and a delicious morning tea – all for a worthy cause.
Once again residents will rally to enjoy the annual Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Event organiser Jenny Bongers said she was looking forward to seeing a big crowd at the event to raise important funds for the Cancer Council.
“The morning tea is always a big hit in Cobden,” Jenny said.
“We have previously held it at the NAB but since our branch closed we have had to search for a new location – and the beautiful room at Thommo’s Hotel is just perfect.”
Jenny paid special thanks to the many residents and local businesses who had donated cakes, slices, quiches, sandwiches, sausage rolls, raffle prizes and other items towards the event.
“Without the generosity of so many people the event would not be as successful as it always is,” she said.
“Last year we raised just over $2,000 so if we can do that again I would be thrilled."
“Anyone wishing to make a slice or other item is most welcome to do so; all donations are gratefully accepted.”
Entry to the morning tea is via a gold coin donation and a raffle will be held throughout the morning.
Raffle tickets can also be purchased prior to the event from the Cobden post office.
Bunches of flowers can also be purchased on the day, with all proceeds going direct to the Cancer Council.
The morning tea will run from 10am-11.30am.
Local businesses who cannot attend but would like to support the event can phone Jenny to order a $25 food platter delivered to their business premises on the day.
