CORANGAMITE Shire director corporate and community services David Rae is leaving the shire after 10 years.

He will take up the position of director community and corporate support at Moyne Shire Council on Tuesday, April 19.

“I’ve always embraced the ethos of leaving an organisation in a better place. I think I’ve achieved this and after 10 years it’s time for someone else to have a go,” Mr Rae said.

“Being part of an organisation that has a record and reputation of achievement is something I am proud to have been part of.

“There has never been a dull moment in my 10 years with Corangamite and my enjoyment has come from experiencing a myriad of opportunities and challenges.

“I’ve also been fortunate to have worked with great people and participated in a range of regional initiatives.”

He said he had enjoyed the culture at Corangamite Shire.

“The attitude to get things done for the benefit of the community is something I will take with me into the new role,” Mr Rae said.

“Culture doesn’t happen by accident and nor does it happen without great people.

“In that regard I leave behind many relationships that have been personally and professionally rewarding.

“I’m also very fortunate to have worked for a council and chief executive officer who have been very supportive with what I’ve wanted to achieve.”

Chief executive officer Andrew Mason wished Mr Rae well in his new venture.

“During the 10 years we have worked together I have greatly appreciated his tremendous work ethic, advice, expertise and friendship,” he said.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein thanked Mr Rae for his service to Corangamite Shire.

“Our loss is certainly Moyne’s gain,” she said.

“We regretfully accepted Mr Rae’s resignation a couple of weeks ago.

“Corporate and community services covers a broad range of areas including finance, HR, risk, IT and community services.

“We have valued his expertise over those many service areas and his sound financial advice over the past decade.”

The recruitment process for a new director has started.

Former Moyne Shire CEO David Madden will start as acting director after easter.
