Decades of dedication farewelled
DANNY Gordon and Mark Evans will say farewell to Mercy Regional College (MRC) after more than 40 years combined service.

DANNY Gordon and Mark Evans will say farewell to Mercy Regional College (MRC) after more than 40 years combined service.
Mr Gordon has been managing Mercy Regional College’s facilities for 26 years, and will depart at the end of this month to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
A motor mechanic by trade, he owned and operated an Ampol service station in Camperdown before joining the then-Catholic Regional College in 1996 as a bus driver before taking on maintenance and property management roles a few years later.
Mr Gordon is well known to many people in the local community as a Country Fire Authority captain and life member with over 40 years of experience.
Retirement will keep him busy as his plans include building a new house, travelling and spending more time with his two daughters and five grandchildren.
“I would like to thank the past and present principals and staff of MRC for the opportunity to be part of the team and wish them all the very best for the future,” he said.
Principal Sharon Gillett thanked Mr Gordon for his years of dedication.
“Danny’s dedication and commitment have been invaluable to Mercy Regional College, and he will be greatly missed,” she said.
Mercy Regional College executive assistant Nicole Darcy said Mr Gordon had always been an integral part of the MRC team, contributing his time and effort to the betterment of the school.
“Any requests, even last-minute ones, have always been greeted by Danny with patience, kindness and a ‘no worries’ attitude,” she said.
MRC will also be saying goodbye to grounds officer Mark Evans at the end of the term.
Mr Evans will embark on a new chapter as a sales consultant at Warrnambool Automotive.
“Mark has been a dedicated member of our community for almost 17 years,” Ms Gillett said.
“He has always demonstrated a great work ethic, positivity, and willingness to help others.”
Teacher Jo Saunders thanked Mr Evans for his willingness to be involved in a wide range of roles to benefit the school.
“Mark has worked across a broad range of tasks and is able to turn his hand to all things,” she said.
“He really cares about how the school looks.
“We will miss his great sense of humor and his kindest personality.”
After many successful years at MRC, Mark appreciates the opportunity to be closer to his young family in Warrnambool.
Ms Gillett said the school will set about trying to fill both the property and maintenance manager and grounds officer roles, but acknowledged filling the shoes left by Mr Gordon and Mr Evans would be no small task.
“We have advertised the positions of property and maintenance manager and grounds officer on our MRC website,” she said.
“We are confident that we will find candidates who are committed to maintaining the high standards that Danny and Mark have set during their time at Mercy Regional College.
“We thank both Danny and Mark for their many years of dedicated service, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
