SWIMMERS at the Cobden swimming pool can rest easy knowing there is assistance if needed close at hand.
A defibrillator was recently installed at the pool ahead of the 2021/22 season thanks to a generous donation.
ProviCo’s Tom Ward said the business donated $3000 to purchase the vital piece of equipment.
He said the business processed milk from a local group of farms in the area.
“It’s good to be able to give back to the community,” Mr Ward said.
“We’re pleased to be able to give back to the community thatsupports us.”
Hewiit and Whitty Cobden’s Denis Delaney said he spent time at the pool over the summer and was concerned there was no defibrillator at the pool for emergency use, with the defibrillator at the Cobden Civic Hall the closest location.
“I went through the people I purchase from and I rang Tom and he was more than happy to help,” he said.
“We put Tom in touch with Jenny Wason from the pool committee.
“It all came together beautifully.”
Corangamite Shire Council sports and recreation co-ordinator Jane Hinds said the committee was thankful for the donation.
“Our thanks and gratitude to ProviCo and Hewitt and Whitty for providing such vital equipment to the pool,” she said.
“It’s (obtaining a defibrillator) always been high on the committee’s agenda.
“The committee is very thankful.”
