Councillors unanimously varied the Special Charge Scheme to pass savings on to property owners after 485 metres of the road was resealed.

The scheme was originally estimated to cost $72,111 with an estimated cost of $46,872 to Neil Avenue residents, however the project came in under budget at $68,643 at a cost of $44,618 to residents.

Cr Geraldine Conheady moved the motion, saying it was another “John Kelly (manager assets planning) good news story”.

“He just keeps putting it out there all the time – he just won’t let this one go” she said.

“We’ve very happy you’re here again, John, it’s always a pleasure to be able to return some money back to residents that have participated in the Special Charge Scheme.

“We do really appreciate it when our residents do that so we can build parts that the whole community can enjoy, and certainly has been fully enjoyed on Cameron Street.

“It’s much appreciated.”

Cr Ruth Gstrein seconded the motion, offering her support.

“It’s a good project and I’m sure the people of Neil Avenue are pleased that it’s complete.”

The motion passed unanimously.
