It was a big result for the Demons, who hadn’t won at Noorat since 2007.

It was the home team who got away in the first quarter, kicking four goals to Timboon’s one, opening up a 19 point lead at the first change.

“Initially it looked like it was going to be a long day,” Demons coach Andrew Hargreaves said of the start.

“Those kind of games would get away from us the past few years.”

Hargreaves noted the change in the way Timboon played after quarter time.

“We started to dominate around the ball, we played a very physical game,” he said.

“Then in the second half we got our running handball game going.”

Hargreaves praised his backline for another outstanding game.

“Our back six have been so strong, the forward entries were basically the same for both teams so they were brilliant in holding the opposition up,” he said.

Vice-captain Mitch Wallace played his 50th senior game for the club, kicking two goals and being among the best for the Demons.

“Mitch has had three really good weeks in the midfield, he’s adapted well to a change of role,” Hargreaves said.

Defenders Lyndon Alsop, Ash Hunt, Sam Newey and Jack McGlade were also named in the best players, alongside midfielder Josh Saunders.

“Josh was immense in the centre, he was everywhere.”

Timboon’s draw gets harder now, with a tough five week stretch ahead.

“We are looking forward to the challenges ahead starting with Nirranda this week, we need to show how competitive we can be,” Hargreaves said.

Timboon also got the job done in the reserves, winning 5.7.37 to 3.5.23.

Bailey Delaney, Zack Lenehan and Taj Quarrell were best for the Demons, Darcy Tribe the only multiple goal kicker with two.

Kolora Noorat got the upper hand in the under 18s with a 3.6.24 to 2.8.20 win.

Mitchell Plozza, Jasper Makin and Tommy Illingworth best for Timboon.

Timboon had a thrilling two point win in the under 15 football, 4.6.30 to 4.4.28 in a match that had little difference in it throughout.

Mitchell Holloway, Byron Woods and Ethan Shadforth were the best players for Demons, Jontae Te Nana-Rodgers kicking two goals.

Timboon had a thumping win in the under 13 game, 13.15.93 to Kolora Noorat’s no score.

Fletcher Hickey, Rory Hollick, Zane Schawalder, Xavier Richardson and Jeddah Loughnan kicked two goals each for the junior Demons.

Jack McKenzie, Harry Salmon and Darcy Delaney were the best players for Timboon.

In the A grade netball, Kolora Noorat got the better of Timboon with a tight 45-42 win.
