A massive eight goal to one first quarter set the tone for the day.

“We set it up early, we had an emphasis on making a strong start,” Demons coach Alec Wiltshire said.

“It was a real team effort all the way through, there were no weak links on the day.”

Key forward Lachie Constable kicked seven goals, taking his season total to 42, with Austin Humphrey kicking five.

In his fifth game for the club, St Joseph’s recruit Zack Mongelli was named as Lismore/Derrinallum’s best, while also slotting three goals.

“Saturday was by far Zack’s best game for us, his positioning and work rate are first class, plus he hits the scoreboard.”

Fellow St Joseph’s recruit Zack Mongelli also drew praise from Wiltshire.

“Lleyton did plenty of fantastic clearance work, he has slotted in really well.”

Despite Hawkesdale/Macarthur being in seventh place, the win meant a lot to the Demons.

“It’s such an even competition, wins are always earned whoever you’re playing.

“We played a tight, tough semi-final against Hawkesdale/Macarthur last year, we rate them as opponents.”

The Demons got through the game without any injury worries and this week head to Mininera to play SMW Rovers.

“We’ve still got a few to come back, there will be some unlucky blokes at selection in coming weeks.

“It’s a headache but a good problem to have.”

In the reserves match, Lismore/Derrinallum had a convincing 17.4.106 to 5.9.39 win.
