Demons to host Merrivale
THE 2026 season starts on Saturday for the Timboon Demons Football Netball Club with a home game at the Timboon Recreation Reserve against Merrivale.
Andrew Hargreaves remains at the helm of the Demons senior football team, with his line-up set to look very different in 2026.
Bayley Thompson headlines the club’s arrivals, the key forward joining from Hampden League club Camperdown where he kicked 25 goals in 2025.
Thompson will serve as an assistant coach.
Midfielder Oliver Delaney joins from North Warrnambool, with Ben Saunders returning to the club after a stint at Modewarre.
Another former Timboon junior in Oscar Norman returns after a stint at Cobden, while Tarkyn Love, a consistent goal kicker at reserves level for Camperdown, has also joined the Demons.
Among the departures, club great Marcus Hickey has retired after 262 senior games in red and blue, boom recruit Josh Saunders returns to South Warrnambool after one season and just five games in 2025, Simon Harkness has also retired, with Jack Hawkes and Sam Newcombe both crossing to Simpson.
Luke Smith steps into his first coaching role with the reserves job, Hargreaves will add the under 18.5 role to his senior job, Travis Brown is the new under 16 coach with experienced junior coach Matt Whitehead in charge of the under 13.5 team.
Liv Williams and Anna Stephens have taken over as co-coaches of Timboon’s A grade netball team, with last season’s coach Danica Clough crossing to Old Collegians.
The Demons have added Amy Kavenagh from Cobden and Brianna Gass from Simpson to their squad.
Eva Vickers and Mereanna Van Ginkel are at the helm of the A reserve team, Jorja Casey is coaching the B grade Demons, Anna Stephens will also coach the 17 and under netballers, the 15 and unders will be coached by Hayley Plozza, Ellen Podbury is in charge of the 13 and under team with Plozza to also coach the 11 and under team.
The Demons first home game of 2026 shapes as a tough first up encounter, with Merrivale preliminary finalists in the senior football in 2025, and winning the A grade netball flag last season.
Timboon will have live music and food trucks at the clubrooms after the game to launch the 2026 season.
