LISMORE Derrinallum returned to the winners’ list last weekend with an impressive 31-point win over SMW Rovers.
Playing at home, the Demons found themselves playing catch-up footy in the second term after getting off to a slow start.
Going into the start of the third with a small lead, the Demons put the foot down and made better use of the ball in their forward 50 and applied pressure all over the ground.
A five-goal final term saw the Demons’ 31-points up on the final siren, 12.10.82 to SMW Rovers 7.9.51.
Tom Millard, Charlie Brett, Josh Anderson, Ruben Vesikuru, Josh Sanders and Nicholas Schiemer were named in the best for the Demons.
Millard booted four goals for the home side while Thomas Dewey kicked two and Benjamin Atkins, Hayden Brett, Ryan Marquand, Darcy Robinson, Josh Sanders and Ruben Vesikuru kicked one apiece.
The reserves went down by 19 points, 6.5.41 to 9.6.60 but still hold on to fifth place – with only percentage separating third through to sixth.
Best for the Demons on Saturday were Jack Sanders, Steven Fisher, Paul Hodder, Luke Fellows and Zachariah Gellie.
James Boag and Lachlan Nelson each kicked two goals, while Steven Fisher and Jack Sanders contributed one each.
The Demons’ had a great day out on the netball courts, winning three of the four games played.
A grade – Lismore Derrinallum defeated SMW Rovers 54-32. Best players: Anita Burchell and Steff Maher.
B grade- Lismore Derrinallum defeated SMW Rovers 31-8. Best for the Demons: Madison Helmore and Isabelle McLinden.
C grade – Lismore Derrinallum defeated SMW Rovers 17-8. Best for the Demons: Leah Holt and Jaala Perkins.
13 and under – Lismore Derrinallum lost to SMW Rovers 5-7. Lacey Grundmann was named best for the Demons.
Lismore Derrinallum will tomorrow (Saturday) head to Lake Bolac to take on the second-placed Magpies in what is expected to be a tough round seven encounter.
