Designs revealed for Merindah Lodge update
PLANS for the $39 million aged care Merindah Lodge update have been released.

PLANS for the $39 million aged care Merindah Lodge update have been released.
Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Colin Brooks unveiled a first look at the new 36-bed, two-storey facility which will replace the ageing Merindah Lodge at the Camperdown Hospital.
Residents will be accommodated in single bedrooms with a private ensuite, in settings that promote dignity, privacy and independence.
This includes using the concept of ‘small households’ with dedicated kitchen, dining, lounge and break-out sitting areas.
The design features outdoor spaces which will promote physical and mental wellbeing, as well as encourage greater social interaction.
The facility’s interior has been designed to provide residents with a modern, safe and comfortable place to call home as well as a safe and efficient workplace for staff.
Operated by South West Healthcare and delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), early works were expected to begin in late 2022 with the new facility completed by 2025.
Mr Brooks said the project was part of the Rural and Regional Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy, to modernise ageing facilities which are home to some of our most vulnerable older Victorians.
“We’re continuing to invest and support the delivery of high-quality residential aged care services to communities across the state’s south-west,” he said.
“With more open spaces and access to fresh air, the new facility will also contribute to a better quality of life and opportunities for social interaction within the home and with the local community.”
The Victorian Government invested more than $146 million in the Victorian Budget 2022/23 to redevelop and upgrade public sector residential aged care services.
