Disappointing loss for division three
COBDEN Bowling Club’s division three side had a disappointing loss to City in the recent grand final.
The team went down by 11 shots in the final, however, given that City was relegated from division two last season after finishing second last, the players did well to reach the final.
Cobden won one rink, drew in another and lost two for a 75-86 loss.
Richard McVilly, Ken Lynch, Colin Spokes and David Luker went down 19-22 in a tight contest against L. Inglis, I McMahon, T. Murnane and J. Menzies.
Trevor Roberts, Colin Whiteside, Kath Spokes and Jim O’Shea won 24-17 over S. Fanelli, T. Leslie, D. Lawrence and T. Moore.
Bert Strampel, Janelle Rohan Jeff Hester and Brian Howard drew with R. Copeland, A. Bamford, P. Nolan and M. Nolan.
They did not play the final end as a result had been reached.
David Staggard, Leon Carrigan, Pat Hickey and Geoff Oven struggled against P. Howard, G. Robbins, S. Hickey and S. Giblett to lose 13-28.
That brings the 2024/25 pennant season to a close.
