Donations for hampers are still needed
DONATIONS of Christmas presents have flooded in for families in need.

DONATIONS of Christmas presents have flooded in for families in need.
A Christmas tree has been set up in Cobden as part of ‘A Helping Hand’ initative in the lead up to Christmas for locals to donate items.
The tree is currently at Ritchies IGA Cobden, after spending time at the Cobden arcade and Cobden Newsagency.
‘A Helping Hand’ volunteers are connecting requests from local community organisations with community members and local businesses who wish to help a family or individual this Christmas.
‘A Helping Hand’ volunteer Elise McKinnon said all local health organisations, schools and other community groups can list the needs of those in their care through ‘A Helping Hand’.
She said the community can then see what they can do to assist including providing Christmas meal hampers, Santa wishes and basic living needs.
“It will shine a light on the incredible work that is already being done by our local organisations and schools and empower the community to get involved and support their efforts,” Ms McKinnon said.
She said the support from the community had been positive.
“We’ve had over 90 gifts donated and more coming in,” Ms McKinnon said.
“Eleven agencies have registered to askfor support.
“We’re still organising hampers, we still need to get donations for the hampers.
“Everyone has been very positive about the initiative.”
For businesses and families who would like to help someone in the community visit ‘A Helping Hand Corangamite’ on Facebook or email volunteers at info@ahelpinghand.com.au.
