DR NEIL Jackson’s dedication to the community was recognised through a Life Governor Award at this week’s Terang and Mortlake Health Service (TMHS) annual general meeting.
Dr Jackson received the Life Governor Award for his dedicated approach to providing health care over 35 years as a general practitioner in the Terang and Mortlake community.
In addition, a diverse range of TMHS staff was recognised for their own decades of service.
TMHS board deputy chair Jane Henderson congratulated Dr Jackson, and thanked him for his valued contribution to the community since making the move to the region in 1985 as a partner at Terang Medical Clinic.
“After 22 years with Terang Medical Clinic, Neil decided it was time for a change,” she said.
“In January 2007 he and his wife Jennifer opened Civic Medical in Terang.
“Dr Jackson retired in December 2019 after an incredible 35 years service as a general practitioner to the broader community.
“As a passionate supporter of our health service, Dr Jackson also made a profound contribution as a long-standing member of the board of directors between 1988 and 2004, including six and a half years as board chair.”
Dr Jackson thanked TMHS for the recognition.
“I would not be getting this recognition if it wasn’t for my wife, Jennifer, who has supported me over all these years,” he said.
“I’d like to say what makes this a great service is the people; the staff members who are the representation of the people within the community.
“May it continue.”
