THE quick actions of members of the public who came to the assistance of a truck driver have been praised.

Camperdown Police acting sergeant Sam Alexander said the accident occurred on the Cobden-Warrnambool Road near the Cobden-Port Campbell intersection at about 8.45am last Thursday.

“There was one vehicle involved,” he said.

“The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“We believe it’s (the truck) rolled onto the passenger’s side and then righted itself.”

Act Sgt Alexander said markings on the road indicated the vehicle was travelling in an east bound direction.

“We had to close the road for approximately four hours with the assistance of CFA,” he said.

“I want to commend attending members of the public who initiated first aid prior to the ambulance arrived.

“We’re extremely happy with the way the members of the public came to the drivers assistance.”
