Dry conditions continue into 2026

JANUARY has seen a very dry start to 2026, with minimal rainfall recorded in the district.

Camperdown has begun the year with just 2.5mm of rainfall over the month – well below the previous year’s total of 18mm for the same month.

The figure is also significantly below the long-term average of 45.1mm for January.

All of Camperdown’s rainfall for the month fell on January 20.

Meanwhile, Lismore recorded 5.2mm of rainfall for January. The figure is significantly lower than both January 2025’s total of 18.6mm and the long-term average of 38.8mm for the month.

The highest daily rainfall for Lismore was recorded on January 9, when 1.4mm hit the ground.

Derrinallum experienced the lowest rainfall total for January, with just 0.6mm of rainfall recorded.

The entirety of Derrinallum’s rainfall was recorded on January 10.

The figure is only a fraction of January 2025’s total of 15.6mm across Derrinallum, while the figure also falls significantly below the long-term January average of 41.1mm.
