Dry end to winter
CAMPERDOWN, Derrinallum and Lismore finished winter with a drier-than-average August, with the region continuing to experience low rainfall.
Camperdown recorded a total of 43.4mm across August, which was less than half of the long-term monthly average of 90.8mm.
Camperdown’s highest daily rainfall was recorded on August 18, where 11.5mm hit the ground.
The figure is also a decrease of the previous year’s total of 45.1mm in the same month.
To date, Camperdown’s total rainfall for 2025 sits at 324.8mm.
Meanwhile, Lismore saw 47.6mm of rainfall over August.
While the figure was still below long-term average of 67.4mm for Lismore, it is an improvement on the previous year’s total of 31mm.
August 30 saw the highest daily rainfall for Lismore, with 11mm hitting the ground over 24 hours.
Lismore’s rainfall tally for 2025 currently sits at 293.8mm.
Derrinallum also saw an improvement of rainfall on the previous year, with 48.9mm falling over August this year.
However, the figure falls short of the long-term monthly average of 71.7mm.
Like Lismore, August 30 saw the most rain for Derrinallum for the month with 12.5mm recorded over 24 hours.
August 2024 saw only 31mm of rainfall recorded in Derrinallum.
Currently, Derrinallum has recorded 279.2mm across 2025.
