Easter Bunny visits Camperdown
KIDS in Camperdown were ‘hopping’ with excitement when the Easter Bunny paid a visit to town on Saturday.
The Easter Bunny was part of the annual Easter celebrations organised by the Camperdown Business Network, which was held on Easter Saturday.
Families spent the morning roaming the streets to find little bunny footprints on shop windows for the Easter quiz, while others were hunting down a hidden rabbit.
Organiser Michelle Elijah said the weather last Saturday provided a great start for the Easter festivities.
“We gave out more than 50 quizzes, so everybody was happy to be part of it again which was great,” she said.
“Lots of people must have slept in, because there was a big rush from 11.30am onwards.
“I thought it was fantastic; great day, lots of atmosphere on the street as per normal, and it was really good.
“Big people and little people got eggs from the Easter Bunny, so I think he was a pretty big hit.”
The hidden bunny was found by Patrick and Molly Gardner, who took home an Easter prize bag for their efforts.
Ms Elijah said the main winners of the Easter quiz were Darcy Gee and Sienna Biscan, with runners-up Ruby Hinkley and Nash Mason receiving chocolate bunnies for their efforts.
“The little boy who won, Darcy, I don’t know if he’s happy to share his prize with his sister, but I think his mum is making him,” she said.
“The big prize, he couldn’t even really hang on to it when we were taking the picture, bless him.
“He was just a bit little, and the prize was pretty heavy.”
Ms Elijah said Sienna’s family was glad they managed to participate this year.
“The girl who won the footy pack, the family was staying up at the caravan park, and they said they missed out last year,” she said.
“They came down the street too late, so they were quite determined to be early this year.
“She was a Cats supporter, so she was stoked to get a new jumper.”
Ms Elijah said she was glad to tick off another successful Easter celebration.
“I was just really glad people came down the street and participated and joining in that Easter atmosphere,” she said.
“I’m just always grateful people do things with their kids and that they’re happy to be in Camperdown.
“Thanks to all those who hopped down the street to do the Easter quiz.”
