Elders learn to protect themselves
AROUND 40 people attended a morning tea last Friday to recognise World Elder Abuse Day – which is Saturday, June 15.
The event included a welcome by Corangamite Shire mayor Kate Makin, introduction to members of council’s positive ageing and inclusion team and talks by guest speakers Deb Porter from Justice Connect and Janeen Stewart from the NBN.
Service navigation support officer Lesa Best said there were some interesting topics discussed.
“There were some great questions asked around Enduring Power of Attorney, how to appoint a medical decision-maker, and what to do if you are concerned about someone,” she said.
