Elsum wins A grade
ROUND two of club championships attracted 40 players to the Cobden Golf Club last Saturday.
C. Elsum took out the A grade stroke event on nett 68 from runner-up G. Rix on 72, on countback from D.Oakley.
T. Gardner won B grade with nett 70 from A. Giles on nett 73.
L. Robertson won C grade with nett 69, followed by B. Bourke 71 and A. Stevens 71 on countback.
The D grade competition was won by B. Welsby on nett 77 from H. Rix nett 80 and F. Bosche and G. Byrne on countback.
Nearest the pins: 4th C. Elsum, 7th D. Beard, 10th H. Green, closest second on the second M. Kataros and closest on the 14th C. Horan.
Balls down the line went to A. Stevens, D. Oakley, J. Lucas, G. Davis, G. Birnie, H. Green, M. Drayton, M. Darcy, J. Walker, J. Mason and D. Beard.
This Saturday, November 30, will be round three of the club championships and the December monthly medal.
Thirteen players competed in the second round of the Wednesday championship competition last week.
Ev Boyd was the winner on 64 nett, followed by Pat Tickner on 48.
Nearest the pins: A grade – 4th Ellen Darcy, 10th Janine Stevens; B grade – 4th Pat Tickner, 10th Rhonda Alexander; C grade – 4th Ev Boyd.
Nearest the pin on the 7th was Carmel Darcy while Sherine Healey (A grade) was nearest second shot on the 8th.
Balls down the line went to Janine Stevens and Sue Couch both with 70 nett.
