A MAN was airlifted following a single vehicle accident on Monday morning.

The driver of a milk tanker was flown to hospital after being extracted from the vehicle which rolled on the Old Port Campbell Road at Jancourt.

Cobden Police Sergeant Craig Jenkins said investigations were ongoing into the single vehicle incident.

“It appears the truck was coming up Old Port Campbell Road on route to Cobden,” he said.

“It appears for reasons unknown at this point in time that the vehicle has left the road and rolled.

“The male has been extracted from the vehicle and conveyed to hospital.”

Sgt Jenkins said all emergency services attended the accident scene, which occurred at about 10.20am.

“It was a co-ordinated response which has led to what we hope is a safe resolution,” he said.

Sgt Jenkins said the accident was an important reminder for all road users to take care.

“At this point in time I want to reiterate to people that accidents are occurring across our part of the world and to drive in a safe and prudent matter and pay all due care and attention,” he said.

“The biggest contributing factors to collisions can be fatigue, can be distractions, can be speed, as well as drugs and alcohol.

“They are the five precursors and we are continually finding at times these things happening.”
