End of season for Cats Premier side
A WASH-out on day two of round 11 saw the end of season 2024/25 for Mortlake’s Premier cricket side last Sunday.

The Cats finished seventh on the Warrnambool Moyne Association ladder, with three wins for the season.
Last weekend’s final game saw them defeated by sixth-placed Allansford Panmure at DC Farran Oval.
Day one on Saturday saw the visitors win the toss and elect to bat first.
Despite some fine bowling by team captain Todd Lamont, who finished the day with the impressive figures of 5/72 from 26 overs, the Gators reached 10/190.
Team-mate Kalhan Sineth took 2/23 from 11 overs while wickets also fell for Todd Robertson 1/19 and Chamika Feranando 1/30.
In reply the Cats reached 4/82 from 44 overs before rain interrupted play.
Feranando was caught on 32 while Jack Lehmann was unbeaten on 22 and Sam Wareham contributed 16 (not out).
Mortlake’s Championship grade remains in finals contention after finishing the home and away season in fourth.
Last Saturday’s round 13 game against neighbours Noorat Terang was a tough one for the Cats.
The Lions won the toss and elected to bat first, amassing 4/246 from 45 overs.
Opener Bailey Kavenagh reached 53 from 90 deliveries (including six boundaries) before being caught by Riley Kelly off the bowling of Damien Goddard.
Fellow opener Isaac Toombs gave the Cats plenty of trouble at the crease, reaching 144 from just 147 deliveries (including 15 boundaries and three sixes).
Toombs was caught by Ryan Tanner off the bowling of Max Slater.
Mortlake fell short in the run chase, reaching just 6/138 after 45 overs.
Middle-order batsman Riley Kelly was just one run short of a half century, reaching 49 from 57 balls (including five boundaries).
Max Slater contributed 16 to the board while Mitchell Hughes (11) and Damien Goddard (12) were both unbeaten.
Mortlake will be out for redemption this weekend when they again take on the Lions in a must-win semi-final match.
