AN unspecified “threat” led to the sudden evacuation of Woolworths in Camperdown on Monday.

AN unspecified “threat” led to the sudden evacuation of Woolworths in Camperdown on Monday.
The incident occurred about 4.30pm and saw shoppers and staff evacuated from the store.
A Woolworths spokesperson said the store was re-opened at about 5.30pm.
“On Monday, May 8 we were notified of a threat to one of our stores and reported this immediately to the relevant authorities,” the spokesperson said.
“As a precaution we chose to close our Camperdown store, until the threat had been properly investigated by authorities.
“Police inspected the store that afternoon and cleared the store to reopen at approximately 5.30pm.
“We thank the police for their assistance, and our team members and customers for their understanding and cooperation.”
A Camperdown police member confirmed police attended.
“It was an incident managed by Woolworths,” the spokesperson said.
“Police are reassuring the community there is no risk to patrons, community members or workers.”
