Female cricket forum next week
SOUTH West Cricket (SWC) is encouraging all females interested in playing next season to attend a forum in Camperdown next week.
SWC is promoting the opportunity for more girls and women to try the sport in the 2024-25 season.
A forum, to be held at the Killara Centre in Camperdown next Wednesday, May 8, is open to females of all ages to hear more about programs being offered by clubs from Colac through to Warrnambool.
The aim of the forum will be to get junior and senior female competitions underway alongside the normal mens and boys fixtures.
While SWC clubs Bookaar, Pomborneit and Cobden already enter female sides in the Colac and Warrnambool associations, it is hoped to begin more local competitions to help reduce distances travelled.
Female enjoyment of the game is obvious to the sport’s administrators as they seek to provide quality experiences for both current and new players.
The forum, which will begin at 7pm, will be short, sharp and constructive, ensuring that attendees get the required information.
All current and potential players, regardless of age, are encouraged to attend.
Parents and interested community members are also welcome.
For more information, phone SWC president Luke Heffernan on 0428 921 569, vice-presidents Matthew Hanks 0447 238 398 and Andy Casson 0407 558 264, operations manager Daniel Missen 0418 173089 or treasurer David Murphy on 0407 523 513.
