Final round for Camperdown bowlers
CAMPERDOWN bowlers enjoyed their final round of competition for 2023 last Saturday after a Christmas break-up the previous night.

It was a wonderful night with plenty of food, laughter and raffle prizes.
The winners of the three major hampers were Ron Cameron, Merle Newling and Kelvin Rundle.
Harry Van Someren won the West Coast Bowls voucher and Abel Brewer won the Ritchies IGA voucher.
Other winners were Ray Bourke, Lyn Brown, Bert Sloetjes, Lois Hose, Pip Robertson and Joan Pemberton.
Thankyou to all members that donated goods for the raffle along with Les Dorman for his donation of a set of bowls that was purchased by Lois Hose in a silent raffle, Damian and Leah Van Someren for the lamb and beef, Macka, Harry and Jayden for cooking the meat and our voucher donors.
A massive thanks to all those who helped set up, serve or help in any way it was much appreciated.
Results from last weekend:
Camperdown 2 played fourth placed Colac 3 on Saturday, this game was a must win to keep their third spot on the ladder.
Stan Adeney’s rink played K. Ezard and although they started off well, they lost 17-20.
Tom Hose’s rink played M. Coates and they had a battle also, going down 20-26.
Ron Simcox’s team played T. Carr and had a close game but went down 15-28.
Ron Absalom’s rink, who has won six games from 10, didn’t disappoint and defeated G. Burrell 29-21.
This wasn’t enough to keep them in third spot, dropping to fourth.
The ladder is Cobden 2, City 3, Colac 3, Camperdown 2, Simpson 2, Derrinallum 1, Colac 4, and Lorne 2.
On January 20 they have a big game to keep them in the four, Simpson 2 at Simpson.
Camperdown/Lismore also played home but against top team Camperdown Golf 3.
The rink of the two Jimmy’s, Kerry and Donna, had a great win 26-15.
The rink of Ted, Paul, Judy and Gwenda had a tight game but lost 14-30.
Lyn, John, Caroline and Noel also had a tough day and went down 7-33.
The final ladder for division four this year is Camperdown Golf 3, Cobden 3, Winchelsea 3, Cressy 2, Camperdown Golf 4, Central 3, Birregurra 2 and Camperdown/Lismore.
They play the other Camperdown Golf 4 team at home the first game back after Christmas.
Division one headed east down the highway to City Bowls club. It was always going to be a tough game and one that Camperdown wanted to win.
Luke, Fred, Vicki and Jayden played Grant Gillespie’s rink.
It was a game of one shot results but going against us, 10-24.
Ron, Barry, Harry and Geoff led Rebecca McMahon’s rink, winning 28-26.
Macca, Darren, Brad and Lud started slowly against Stewart Triggs team but ended up winners, 22-21.
The last rink of Mattie, Lenny, Kelvin and Maria played Gary Morrissey’s.
After a tough battle they brought home the win, 27-20.
Camperdown won three rinks but not the game, going down by eight shots.
The ladder is Colac, Apollo Bay, City and Winchelsea in the four, which has played an extra game, with 127 points.
Then just outside in fifth spot is Camperdown with 114 points, Simpson 102 points, Central 86 points, Camperdown Golf 61, Cobden 55 and Lorne 44.
After Christmas it is the do or dies end, wins are very important and losing will be costly.
A hard game first off playing Simpson at home on January 20.
