Finals action for bowlers

FINALS action is well and truly underway for Heytesbury Indoor Bias Bowls.

There was plenty of semi and preliminary finals action over the past week.

In division one it was the Battle of the Timboons 2 v 1 and the match was pretty even up until end 13 when Timboon Lawn 2 took the lead and never looked back.

Timboon Lawn 2 is through to the grand final while Timboon Lawn 1 will play the winner of the next semi-final.

Mepunga 1 took on Glenormiston 1 and the match was relatively close until end 12 when a replay for Mepunga went sideways and Glenormiston 1 was victorious.

Mepunga 1 finished in fourth place, while Timboon Lawn 2 will play Glenormiston 1 in the preliminary final.

In division two, Mepunga 2 played Timboon Lawn 4.

Timboon Lawn 4 couldn’t get started, with Mepunga 2 progressing to the grand final.

The semi-final between Cobden 1 and Glenormiston 4 was played and Glenormiston 2 also couldn’t get started and finished fourth for the season.

Timboon Lawn 4 will play Cobden 1 in the preliminary final.

In division three, Mepunga 3 defeated Scotts Creek 3 and will head to the grand final.

Peterborough couldn’t find the mat while playing Camperdown 3 – which ended in a win to Camperdown who will now meet Scotts Creek 3 in the preliminary final.

This was Peterborough’s first final since joining the association a few years ago.

The preliminary final was played two days later.

In division one, the game between Timboon Lawn 1 and Glenormiston 3 was pretty even until end 14 when Glenormiston 1 dropped a triple and couldn’t recover.

The division one grand final will be a semi-finals rematch of Timboon Lawn 2 v 1.

In division two, Timboon Lawn 4 played Cobden 1 and after a solid start, Timboon Lawn 4 couldn’t catch up.

The division two grand final will be Mepunga 2 vs Cobden 1.

In division three, Scotts Creek 3 played Camperdown 3 and the match was relatively even until end nine when Camperdown 3 strung together four ends of numbers to take the lead and not look back.
