Finals await netballers
IT was a tough finish to the season for Camperdown’s senior footballers last Saturday, with a 92 point loss at Koroit’s Victoria Park.

After an even first term, the Saints asserted their dominance with an eight goal to none second quarter to set up the 18.15.123 to 4.7.31 win.
“It wasn’t ideal,” Camperdown coach Clinton Thomas lamented.
“We didn’t finish the season how we would have liked.”
After a season full of competitive performances, the Magpies ended with a rare poor performance.
“The Cobden game in round six was the only other game where we didn’t really let out a yelp.
“Koroit are a very good team playing very good footy, we did make them look good, they came out very much up and about.”
Luke Kavenagh was best for Camperdown in the loss.
“Luke did really well and competed well in the ruck, he had a big third quarter giving us access to centre clearances.”
Alec Thomas had an equal match high 12 tackles and was also in the Magpies best.
“It was probably one of Alec’s better games for the year, he’s a tough competitor and tackled really well.”
Camperdown finished the season in seventh place, half a game out of the top five with eight wins, nine losses and a draw.
Immediately, the attention has turned to 2026.
“We’ve already met with most of the boys and are thrilled with the commitment for next year.
“We’ll look to add to our depth and will start mapping out the pre-season.”
Koroit also dominated the reserves football with a 23.14.152 to 4.1.25 win.
Luke Ball, Tim Fitzgerald, Leigh Ball, Paddy Hassett, Ned Molan and Taj Cunningham were Camperdown’s best in the loss.
Hassett kicked two goals with one each to Ned Molan and Tim Fitzgerald.
The Magpies reserves ended the season in ninth place with three wins and 15 losses.
The under 18 game saw Koroit win 11.15.81 to no score.
Ned Molan, Taj Cunningham, Scott Londregan, Archie McDonald, Max Rees and Harrison Glennen were best for Camperdown.
The under 18 Magpies finished last without a win.

Camperdown v Koroit
In the Open netball, the match ended in a 52-52 draw.
“The girls did such a good job,” Camperdown coach Jill Leader said of the match against third-placed Koroit.
“We started really strongly, then Koroit came back hard.”
Camperdown led by seven goals at half-time before the Saints narrowed the lead to two goals at the last change.
“The last quarter saw us have a few little fumbles and brain fades that allowed them to score and level it up.”
The improvement from the last encounter between the two teams was a big positive for Leader.
“Last time (in round nine) they beat us by 36 goals, it was a solid turnaround.
“The belief the girls will get out of that will be immense.”
Teenager Indy Cameron was best for Camperdown in the tied result.
“As wing attack, Indy played one of her most consistent games.
“She ended up having seven different opponents play on her, she was pretty much unstoppable.”
