Having been absent from finals appearances for over a decade, the club this season had two of its three sides (under 12 mixed and seniors) play in grand final matches.

While both were unable to bring home a premiership, the club is extremely proud of their achievements in the 2024/25 season.

The seniors finished second on the Grenville Cricket Association ladder at the end of the home and away season but unfortunately fell short in their grand final against ladder-leaders Haddon last weekend.

Playing at the Linton Recreation Reserve last Saturday, the Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Tigers struggled at the crease, restricted to 10/62 off 28 overs.

Opener and captain Ned Uren made 20 from 46 deliveries while team-mate Xavier Coutts, out on 12, was the only other batsman to reach double figures.

In reply Haddon made 1/64 in the 28th over, with Derrinallum’s Khush Randhawa the only wicket taker, finishing with figures of 1/9 from six.

Derrinallum Cricket Club president Drew Uren said while it was disappointing not to have taken the win on the weekend, the club is proud of the progress made this season.

“We’ve ticked off an important milestone (reaching the grand final) after waiting so many years, now we’re all eager to go one better next year,” Uren said.

“Full credit to Haddon, they bowled extremely well and unfortunately we didn’t do well with the bat and that let us down.

“But in saying that, while the players were all disappointed with the result they can hold their heads high for what they have achieved this season.”

The club will hold its annual vote count and presentation night on Friday, March 21 from 6.30pm at the clubrooms.
