Finals end for Power
KOLORA Noorat’s finals series came to an end by the smallest of margins last weekend.
KOLORA Noorat’s finals series came to an end by the smallest of margins last weekend.
The Power put in a huge effort during Saturday’s preliminary final against Panmure at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval but fell just two points short, with scores at 14.5.89 to 13.13.91 on the final siren.
Senior coach Nick Bourke said while his side was “disappointed with the result” they were pleased with their performance throughout the season and with Saturday’s game.
“The end score certainly wasn’t what we had hoped but that’s footy; there’s a winner and a loser and unfortunately it wasn’t our day,” Bourke said.
“The boys played an incredible game and I’m sure it was a great one to watch. “ Bourke said he would take a couple of weeks to “let the dust settle” before starting work on next season.
He has committed to another year at the helm and is looking forward to going even further in season 2023.
“I’m confident we will retain the majority of our playing group and we will look to go deeper next year.”
After a close first half contest, the Power went into the main break with a 13-point lead.
This was extended to 17-points by three-quarter time, however, Panmure piled on four goals in the final term and contained the Power to just one goal one behind for the term, earning themselves a spot in this Saturday’s Warrnambool District grand final.
Best players for Kolora Noorat were Ryan O’Connor, Nick Marshall, Ben Fraser, Sam Boyd, Fred Beasley and Joel Moloney.
Goals went to Ben Fraser (4), Ben Reid (3), Lucas Boyd (3), Scott Judd, Jason Moloney, Joel Moloney and Jacan Brooks.
Kolora Noorat’s under 18 side will take on Russells Creek in this Saturday’s grand final at Reid Oval.
The match will start at 10.30am.
