Finals for Camperdown basketballers

CAMPERDOWN Basketball Association wound up its current season with grand final night last Friday week, March 7.

In the A grade men’s competition, Ham Sangas defeated Bostocks Creek 33-36.

The most valuable player award went to Luke O’Neil in the grand final.

Awards in the senior men’s division were presented to the following:

Goal throwing – Tully Darcy 232 points, Luke Kavenagh runner-up 220 points.

Best and fairest – Tully Darcy 24 votes, runner-up Noah Sinnott 19, Archie Taylor 19 and Nick Jones 19.

In the B grade men’s grand final, Tesbury Titans defeated 69ers 49-23.

Most valuable player was Darcy Hutchins (Titans).

Just the Mums defeated The Mum Bus 32-30 in the senior women’s grand final, with Sarah Davis named most valuable player.

Senior women’s awards went to:

Goal throwing – Amy Pemberton 288 points, runner-up Jes Garrow 251 points.

Best and fairest – Amy Pemberton 34 votes, runner-up Jes Garrow 28 votes.

In the under 17 boys, Waldig Civil Constructions defeated Prossers Panels 38-29 with Ned Molan named most valuable player.

Under 17 boys awards:

Goal throwing – Oliver Clark 325 points, runner-up Jordy Kempton 311 points.

Best and fairest – Micah Darcy 29 votes, runner-up Rory Cameron 26, Ned Molan 26 and Jordy Kempton 26.

The Lachie Stephenson Sportsmanship Award went to Chase Fleming who has umpired weekly (and was recently graded) and also helped run the Aussie Hoops program each Monday – demonstrating all Lachie’s values.

Under 17 girls’ saw Corangamite Shire defeat Benallacks Sports 36-19.

Elle Mahony was named most valuable player in the grand final.

Awards:

Leading goal thrower – Vogue Fleming 171 points, runner-up Edie Molan 154 points.

Best and fairest – Charlotte Hinds 27 votes, runner-up Edie Molan 26 votes.

In the under 12 girls’ competition, Camperdown Mowers defeated Unwins Auto Trimmings 11-10, with Essie Myers named most valuable player in the grand final.

Awards:

Encouragement award – Stella Evens.

The under 12 boys’ saw Fleming Fitness defeat RL Blakes 27-27, with Knox Fleming named most valuale player in the grand final.

The encouragement award went to Freddie Lillie.

The under 9s finished their season with a round-robin tournament.

Six teams enjoyed the season – Camperdown Vet Centre, O’Leary Ag Contracting, Fennel West, Country Road, Sweet Giftz and Brebner Tiling.
